So…I Was Thinking About Hiking Trails (Shocking, I Know)
Yep, thinking. Disgusting habit, don’t recommend it. But here we are—me, you, and the unpaid interns in my head, running the night shift. Anyway, they came up with a truly wild idea, because apparently, I don’t have enough unhinged thoughts:
Why Hiking Trail Backstories Are More Interesting Than People’s
Here’s the thing: people’s backstories? Don’t care. Everyone’s got one, and usually they involve oversharing at the office coffee machine while holding a mug that says "Live, Laugh, Love."
But trail backstories? Suddenly I’m fascinated. Who carved this path? Why here? Why this way? And why, for the love of blistered feet, does one trail have seven different names depending on which hiker you ask?
After 100+ Trails, One Truth Emerges
I’ve always been drawn to the quieter, lesser-known hikes. Who owns them? What’s their origin story? Because after trekking more than 100 trails—and spending about the same number of years on this planet—one truth has emerged: the love for something always shines through. Always.
Here’s my question: am I the only one who cares about this stuff, or is there a secret underground club of people also obsessed with trail trivia? Because I’ve decided to dig. I’ve got an itch, and it demands scratching.
Do I share the weird and wonderful histories of these trails and their owners here? Or like me with people’s backstories, you "don’t care.-everyone’s got one?" In that case, I will just quietly spiral like an injured squirrel until I inevitably launch a podcast called:“Trail Backstories: The Show Literally No One Cares About.”
Also, if you say no, fine. But understand, one set of thoughts replaces another. So don’t come crying to me when this blog fills up again with all that “poignant crap.” And trust me, nobody wants that flood.
