Verity Park: A Weekday Wander

Verity Park has been sitting on my “one day” list for a while, and since Pepper (my son) and I found ourselves in the area on a December weekday, I figured it was finally time to tick it off.

It’s a nice, small neighbourhood park. Perfect for dogs to run around off lead.

There is a charming little library, tennis courts, an enclosed kids’ play area, and apparently a swimming pool… which we did not see.

I had the walk marked as 3 km. Unless we missed a secret extension (or an alternate dimension), you’d need to do a few very enthusiastic laps to make that happen.

It feels like one of those places the locals know about and quietly take pride in.

But if this is news to you - and you find yourself in the Parkhurst area needing somewhere for your furballs to burn off some energy, or just need an outdoor break - this spot should do the job nicely.

I imagine weekends would dial up the activity and add a bit more buzz, but on a weekday it has that calm, comfortably familiar neighbourhood feel.

And because I physically could not not take photos, here they are.

This is literally what the park consists of.

Nothing more, nothing less… except maybe that swimming pool.

Or the secret extension.

Which we may or may not have missed.
